Armed Forces personnel recognised by the Queen for diversity and inclusion work

Her Majesty The Queen is recognizing the military’s efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion across the Armed Forces. Some of the winners include Lieutenant Colonel Scott Wallace of the Royal Marines (promoted wheelchair basketball as a recovery method for injured personnel), Warrant Officer Class 2 Sheridan Lucas of the Army’s Royal Logistic Corps (developed the first male & female integrated platoons), Flight Lieutenant Kyle Roachford of the Royal Air Force (supported talented BAME personnel’s career success). Read more here.

DEI shouldn’t be new to the sport of hockey. 60 years ago, the Future Aces program was founded by Herb Carnegie – who was kept out of the NHL by racism. Today, the Carnegie Initiative has been announced. It is a non-profit that will award academic grants and resources to make hockey more inclusive and welcoming for everyone. How can we break the barriers?
